RE: How to handle non-RV family that want to borrow your MH?

Last Thanksgiving at the inlaws, a niece (by marriage)and her preschool DD were exporing my Roadtrek and I happened upon the scene. The fear in my nieces eyes unnerved me, as she apparently was sure I'd be very unhappy. I want to be understood and respected, not feared. At the same time, I don't understand how anyone can get to the age and stage of affording an RV and not know how to erect boundaries. No special offence OP, I just alway wonder about this when reading this topic.

RE: Which 'B's Have The Most Storage, And Why?

Super nice! It does look like a factory install, as noted above. The window in the bathroom lessens the closet feel. Got more pics?

RE: Live each day as if it were your last

Very moving post. Thank you for reminding us to be grateful for the great good fortune of having loved ones. We must also be tender and tolerant of those whom we meet in passing, as we don't know the burdens they are carrying.

RE: Where is everyone going Columbus Day weekend?

We're boondocking close to a three day gardening event over Halloween weekend. An annual event that's so much fun, now especially that we can use our RV and not stay in a hotel or B&B. gardening event www.weareroses.com click on calender

RE: Wal Mart muggings-BE CAREFUL!!

I'm with Sooner Schooner on this one. I'd rather not overnight at wallyworld. Can't picture being in my PJ's in a public parking lot.

RE: How to locate the used vehicle we've chosen?

Hey fmvan, my DH and I worked as volunteers and sailed on the barque Elissa, built in 1877 in Scotland and restored in Galveston. Small world, some of the crew and staff of Elissa that we knew back in the 1980's are in the NE.

RE: Changing a Family Traditon

Go for it Kathy! Sounds like fun and sometimes a new twist on a tradition is just what everybody needs. Great thread and loved the pics. I'm getting in the holiday spirit just reading this. We'll travel to the elderly inlaws for Thanksgiving and I can't wait. Still, it'll be really nice to have a little time out in the RV.

RE: FT couple on Oprah

Oprah seemed smittened by the FT RV lifestyle. Remember when she drove cross country in a small chevy, fulfilling a childhood dream of seeing the USA in a chevrolet? I see retirement in her near future. Wait till she does a walk thru in a Prevost.

RE: On Oprah Today

And again I embarrass myself by tossing out a post that's not well constructed. Note to my (female:B) self: Write carefully, people are not mind readers :S

On Oprah Today

I'm not a regular watcher of Oprah, but saw today's show which featured a full timing RVing couple who wondered about continuing that lifestyle. Suzy said go for it, as they planned well and are doing something fantastic. They've earned it. Go to www.oprah.com

RE: Maiden voyage

That's good news, kking. So happy for both of you. We got our 3" memory foam from Sam's and it's very comfortable, really contributes to a good nights sleep.

RE: Who does the planning

I handel the steering wheel and the wife does the driving. That about sums it up for us.

RE: My DH won't turn over the wheel

We're back and, you guessed it, DH drove the entire way to and from C-Springs. He drove 2,000 miles coming and going, with four days camped at the destination. Had to leave early to our run Hurricane G, trying not to meet him head on upon the return to Texas.

RE: My DH won't turn over the wheel

You folks are the best! Thanks for the variety of replies, they were all over the place and I laughed lots. About a year ago I was furious about something when we left on a trip and jumped in the front seat telling DH I was the pilot. That lasted about seven miles when I pulled over and gave it up, happy to wander from passenger seat,to mid ship, to back bed, throughout the rest of the trip. And Huck, were leaving tomorrow in our B hauling (by U-Haul) a VW engine for DD to replace the one in her car in Colorado Springs. They'll use the Air Force Academy's Garage or just set up in the campground, where Dad will assist daughter. (Boy, don't we know how to have fun!)In her teens, she built her VW top to bottom. At our house, my DH does the hard and grotesque, but I am the better driver!

My DH won't turn over the wheel

Alright, he's educated, professional, smart and kinda liberated. Still he won't turn over the wheel of the B when we travel together although I drive quite well by myself when traveling solo. Other species of guys like that out there? What's up with that? Perhaps he likes my backseat driving. ;)

RE: It's getting close...tailgate season!!

Rlhoge, we'll be tailgaiting at USAFA (our first year to tailgate)this Saturday at the game between AF and S Utah! You are so right, the experience is one of a kind. My DD, graduating this year, teaches gliding and in past years has shown the public the gliders parked nearby. We'll get a kick of her and the other cadets doing pushups after toughdowns. Those Air Force Cadets work their tails off all year preparing to serve our counry. You better believe we're proud, of all of 'em. GO AIR FORCE!! PS, May I PM for tips, etc? Also we're staying at the FamCamp TWTh, then on to her sponsor's house.

RE: A Universal Greeting when on the Highway

As yes, the day of a nice lazy wave as we traveled slower speeds in TX are going, going, but not gone entirely. A few weeks ago, sitting in my '77 Z waiting to turn right out of WallyWorld, a hugh Allegro cruised though the light. I had my window down and waved with lots of vigor. His rig was awesome. He was cute too with his greyed haired self.Next to him, at the next light, I was totally dwarfed, but had fun gunning that Z uphill and pulling out and away. We're so rural and on roads with iffy shoulders, that in general the locals just raise an index finger hello as we pass.

Nice to have Rodger owning a Roadtrek and so involved. Thanks for investigating in your intellegent and common sense manner and keeping us up on RT doings, past and future.

RE: Scooter instead of tow vehicle???

I've had some experience with scooters and motorcycles and I don't recommend them for the purpose we are discussing. Especially if you are an older person and even more so if you are an older person with no previous riding experience. You can define older for yourself. You need to ride often to keep your skills up. Fear is a good thing to a point I might add. Scooters have their applications and I am not completely condeming the idea just suggesting that for most of us they are not the best answer. Factor it all in and make your own decisions but I vote for a small toad car for anyone over forty and or inexperienced with motorcycles and scooters. Most Excellent Points, Thanks.
